After a few years of continually renovating and repainting the old railway sleepers FOIRP felt it was time to provide better quality Raised Beds in front of the Hotel at Riverside Gardens
During the Autumn of 2022 part of the Embankment at the east end of Riverside Gardens was recovered from its overgrown state and replanted by FOIRP volunteers with help from Landscape Gardeners, Helen Taylor and Associates. This is now flourishing and volunteers have been working on the other side of the Embankment which is about to be replanted during the Autumn of 2023 and the Spring of 2024.
An official ribbon-cutting event at the new playground in Ilkley’s Riverside Park recognised the generous donations of sponsors who, together with local residents, have helped the Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks group raise just over £47,000 towards the much-needed new playground.
Late March and it was time to seed the Wildflower Area in Riverside Gardens to encourage more growth.
Following the announcement of a new design for the playground in Ilkley’s Riverside Park, playground supplier Kompan have already begun work on phase 1 of the renovation. Bradford Metropolitan District Council have committed £150,000 for this phase of the work, to replace and refurbish the majority of the playground equipment.
Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks are now fundraising to add a giant rope swing and a fantastic new climbing structure to the design, to replace the existing tall slide and climbing net in the playground
FOIRP are excited to announce that, after many months of discussions with Bradford Council an exciting new design has been unveiled for the playground in Ilkley’s Riverside Park, which will provide outdoor fun and exercise for thousands of children and young people each year.
The current well-used playground facilities in the park are over 35 years old and are now in much need of replacement. The new playground will be completed in 3 phases
FOIRP have created a 2022 from the monthly winners of our 2021 Photographic Competition. Its on Sale now and can be acquired a a number of shops around the Town as well as Saturdays down at the Parks by the Riverside Hotel, Great quality photographs of the parks, the rivers and the surrounding areas will make a great Christmas present and costs just £7 ( or £6 for 2 or more!)
Local Parks group, Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks held their first Annual General Meeting as a Registered Charity and reflected on their progress since the group’s inception in the summer of 2018 and were praised for their work by the Ilkley Mayor and the local M.P.
Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks are partnering with The 2 Minute Foundation, a registered charity dedicated to encouraging people to do a small amount of litter picking when they are out walking
